Service and Growth Opportunities...

Service Opportunities
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. Colossians 3:23, 24 (NASB)
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3, 4 (NASB)
One of the most crippling things in modern Christian churches is the mindset that we are simply volunteers at our local churches. The Bible is replete with examples that support the fact that every believer is called to serve God through the local church and community.
At ALCC, you will always have an opportunity to serve God and His people in some capacity. Service was an issue even during Jesus' days here on earth. In Luke 10:1, the Lord Jesus Christ stated, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His harvest." (NASB) Below are some areas where you can be of service:
Growth Opportunities
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20, NASB
Throughout the New Testament, discipleship or Christian growth is trumpeted. Scriptural passages like Acts 2:42-47, 1 Corinthians 3:1-6, Ephesians 4:11-16, and the book of James are but a few that echoes the need for Christian growth at a personal and corporate level.
The writer of Hebrews also emphatically challenged the individuals and the church towards Christian growth in Hebrews 5:11-6:12. At ALCC, we believe the abundant life can not be experienced without a perpetual process of preparation and Christian growth.
The purpose of Christian growth is greater than the individual believer and the corporate church. We are to intentionally grow in our faith and walk with God, through Jesus Christ and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, so the discipleship process can be duplicated through witnessing to unbelievers.
To that end, ALCC will conduct several Focus Group sessions throughout the year to provide holistic ministry and meet people in whatever season of life they are in. The list below is extensive, but it may be modified as the Holy Spirit leads.
