"Diligence & Perseverance"

What the Bible Says:

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. Hebrews 10:36

Personal Testimony:

I came into my junior year knowing that this would probably be my hardest year (from what everyone has said). But I thought in my mind, "Well school in general has never really been too difficult for me." Do your homework, study well, and pass the tests…it's that simple. Freshman year every single one of my classes were honors and I was on the softball team, but this year I've only got one honors class and one AP class. So the only difference with this year is more standardized test right? Well I came to learn quickly that I'd be working triple time.

One class in particular is my math class. Walking into my honors pre-calc class I felt pretty confident. Then I looked around and all I saw were sophomores, then I find out that I'd be 1 out of 6 juniors. (now 1 out of 3 since 3 juniors have dropped out). The class was impossible. I failed the first quiz, then I failed the first test, then I failed the 2nd quiz, and then the 2nd test. The only thing keeping my grade above failing was my homework and projects. There was a point where things were looking up for me, I got a 77% on one of the many tests…but then I failed the next test. It seemed like all my time went into this one class. I got a tutor and it helped a little but I still wasn't getting those grades on the tests that I wanted. I'm happy to say that I didn't fail the class and I passed with a 78%. And this past week we just took another test on the chapter and I can say with 100% confidence that I passed the first test of the semester with at least a B.

So what I'm trying to say is that at times I wanted to give up and drop out of the class. I yearned for my usual 95% grade point average, but this year I had to take an 89% GPA. But the point is that I persevered through the late night studying until 3 in the morning, the homework, and the criticism. It was only God who pulled me through that class. And like in the scripture where it states "so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised", I did what God wanted me to do which was not to drop out and keep pushing, and in the end I received what was promised which was a passing grade!
